Figuring out a good manager

While Danny Wilson’s win percentage (39%) seems low in isolation, it’s worth pointing out that United’s most successful manager of the last 15 years, Neil Warnock, only had a 38% win record before he came to the Lane.

Every permanent manager since Warnock left has also had a lower win percentage prior to taking over at United - Bryan Robson 34%, Kevin Blackwell 37% and Micky Adams 38%.

Only last year Wilson took an average Swindon side to the play-off final and he also has a record of taking unfashionable clubs (Hartlepool, Barnsley and Bristol City) to promotion or play-offs.

So give him a chance - with some quality players coming through, he has a fair chance of being a successful boss.
