Figures for applications to put children into care in South Yorkshire

Social workers in Sheffield made applications for seven children to be taken into care per every 10,000 youngsters in the city last year.

The figure was released by Cafcass - the Children and Family Court Advisory and Support Service - alongside figures for the previous five years.

Between 2012 and 2013 Sheffield Council made 10 applications per 10,000 children.

Last year Rotherham Council made 12.1 applications per 10,000 children, the figure for Barnsley was 9.5 and for Rotherham it was 14.8.
