Festive Superjams come to the city

A series of festive Superjam tea parties and friendship luncheons are being held at venues across the city.

The parties, aimed at older people who are lonely or socially isolated, are the brainchild of Kathy Marwick, community development officer at Home Instead Senior Care.

The first event is the Superjam Afternoon Tea Party, at The Old School House in High Green, which will give older people in the city the chance to enjoy some live music from local singer Susan St. Nicholas while enjoying afternoon tea. The party, on December 8, will also feature films created as part of the Catalyst Festival of Creativity celebrating the power of Sheffield Journeys.

Tickets for the event are free and limited to the first 100 places, so call Paces on 0114 2844444 to book your place.

The second event is the Christmas Friendship Lunch at Toby Carvery on Ecclesall Road South, on December 13. The Lord Mayor of Sheffield, Coun Denise Fox, will be joining attendees for a carvery dinner with live music from singer Stevie Moore. The event, which includes a carvery, ice cream and the opportunity to sing along, dance and make new friends, costs £6 per person and can be booked by calling 0114 236 2735.

Finally, Jordan’s Delight Cafe , in Norfolk Park, will be hosting a Friendship Lunch & Play Your Cards Right experience on December 12.

Tickets cost £10 and include a two-course meal, so call Tracy on 07980 437671 to make your booking before Friday.
