Festive cheer for soldiers

A TERRITORIAL Army sergeant from South Yorkshire is hoping to take some Christmas cheer for troops in Afghanistan.

Sgt Craig Edwards, from Barnsley, spent Christmas 2005 serving in Iraq, and now wants to make this year’s festive season more enjoyable for local troops serving in the Gulf.

He said: “When I was out there any bit of mail or a parcel at all was a Godsend, especially sweets or toiletries. In Afghanistan a lot of the lads are in the middle of nowhere, so they haven’t got any facilities at all.”

To donate items to be sent to local troops in Iraq them to the Barnsley drill hall on Wakefield Road or call 01226 200 116.
