Fernando Forestieri has scored three goals this season

The Owls moved into the six for the first time this season by winning 2-1 at Bristol City last Sunday.

Wednesday have lost only once in their last nine league outings and Forestieri says they must maintain that kind of form to keep the chasing pack at bay.

"We need to keep going, to take one point or all three points," the forward said. "When you lose (when you're near the top), everyone goes over you. We need those three points.

"We need to come back from the international break more strong."

Jos Luhukay's side have just come through their toughest six-game spell of the season. They won away at Aston Villa and at the Robins but were held to recent Hillsborough draws by Leeds United and West Bromwich Albion.

"We could be even higher because we gave points away at home against Leeds and West Brom," said Forestieri.

The Owls return to Championship action on Friday at home to Middlesbrough before hitting the road to take on Queens Park Rangers and Birmingham City.

Forestieri, who has hit three goals in nine second-tier appearances, is happy with Wednesday's lofty position, although he is refusing to get carried away so early in the campaign.

"It's a good thing to be in the top six, but there are 34 games left," he said. "That's too many points still to play for."
