Fears for safety of missing Sheffield schoolgirls

Police are searching for two schoolgirls reported missing in Sheffield.

Stefania Gabcova, aged 15, was last seen when she left her home in Burngreave at around 7pm on Monday.

It is thought she may be with 14-year-old Maria Pokutova, also from Burngreave, who was reported missing after she failed to turn up for school yesterday morning.

Stefania is white, with slightly darker coloured skin, and slim.

She is 4ft 6ins tall, has long, dark brown hair and speaks Roma Slovakian and English.

Maria is also white, with slightly darker coloured skin, slim, around 5ft tall and has long, dark hair.

She also speaks both Roma Slovakian and English.

Superintendent Richard Lambert, from South Yorkshire Police said: “We need the public’s help to find these girls and ensure their safety. If you have seen Maria or Stefania, please contact police.

“I would also directly appeal to both girls to contact us if you see this appeal. Both of your families are worried about you and want to know your safe.”
