Fears over Sheffield half marathon ‘mudbath’ road

Have your say

Chippings are to be laid along the route of the new Sheffield Half Marathon after concerns over mud were raised by a runner.

Michael Shuker contacted Sheffield Council to point out that the footpath next to Ringinglow Road was a ‘mudbath’ which meant training runners had to use the road instead.

He said: “With the increasing number of runners training, it only seems a matter of time before we have a tragedy.”

Coun Isobel Bowler, cabinet member for sport, said she had raised the issue and chippings should be put down soon.
