Famous loco revisits town

TRAIN buffs will flock to Doncaster station on Saturday to see the return of a locomotive built by local engineers.

Bittern, one of the sister engines to the world-famous Mallard, is a Gresley-designed A4 Pacific built in the 1930s for the East Coast main line.

On Saturday it will be back on the same route hauling a special excursion for enthusiasts from King’s Cross to York and is expected to pass through Doncaster between 10.30am and 11am.

It will be making the return trip from York and can be seen in Doncaster again at around 4.30pm.
