Famous climber to help Buxton Mountain Rescue Team

Internationally renowned mountaineer, Nigel Vardy, has joined Buxton Mountain Rescue Team as an associate member to help with training, fundraising and operational support.

Nigel, who lives in Derbyshire, has climbed all over the world.

In 1999 that he suffered severe frostbite on Mount McKinley in Alaska, leaving him losing some fingers, toes and his nose.

Roger Bennett, of Buxton Mountain Rescue, said: “He has a lot to offer in raising the team’s profile and practical advice.”
