Family tennis court to stay

A FAMILY have won their fight to keep a tennis court in the grounds of their home in the Doncaster village of Stainton.

Doncaster Council told the Birch family they could not keep the facility at their property at Lime Kiln Lane. The court was built on a hard surface once occupied by agricultural buildings on the green belt.

But now the family have been told it can stay after they won an appeal to government planning inspectors.

Planning inspector Peter Davies visited the site himself and stated in his report: “I conclude the proposal represents appropriate development within this green belt.”
