A heartbroken family is appealing for a memorial Christmas tree to be returned after it was stolen from Eckington.
The tree had been planted at the bottom of Pitworth Lane, among other trees, in memory of Sean Ashmore, who died aged 46, following an operation in July.
His sister Nicola Tighe said the family had planted the tree and put baubles on it with messages to Sean.
It was stolen sometime between Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
Nicola said: “It’s really heartless and we are appealing to whoever has taken it to return it.
“It was only about a foot and a half tall but we had been planning to go down there on Christmas Day to remember my brother.
“Whoever took it has filled the hole back in.”
