Over at the Tropical Butterfly House, dads truly get the royal treatment with free entry all day long on Sunday. There will also be a series of fun Bushtucker challenges to enter dad in – with chocolate grubs, and sweets with nasty or nice fillings – running on a first-come-first-served basis, at 12.30pm and 2.45pm. And push him hard kids! Dads that succeed in their challenge will win a yummy chocolate treat for their children. Register for the challenge on arrival.

For dads who enjoy drooling over a nice car, there’s no better way to show him a good time than with a visit to the Classic Car and Motorcycle show at Clumber Park on Sunday, from 10am to 4pm. There will also be a full street-food themed catering village featuring a large number of unique and interesting food and drink options to cater for all tastes.

Is dad interested in gardening? Longshaw Estate has a Wildflower Wander on Father’s Day, from 10am to 12pm. The whole family can enjoy the boggart trail, and trail sheets can be bought from the shop in the visitors centre and cafe for £1.

And arise Sir Dad! For over at Bolsover Castle, there will be a Knights School running all weekend, from 11am to 5pm on Saturday and Sunday, where dads and little ones can be knights for the day. Take the opportunity to hone your skills on the battlefield and impress the fair maidens. Be greeted by the medieval castle knight and hear tantalising tales of chivalrous battles and fearsome quests. Sharpen your swords for a day out to remember.

For a fun family day out, you’ll be spoilt for choice at Xscape, Castleford, where you can choose from bowling, trampolining, 4D golf and a free beer for dads at Bella Italia.

Or maybe you have a dad who loves science? Enjoy a free day out at the National Science and Media museum in Bradford. The new Wonderlab is open and includes a super fun mirror maze and sensory experience.

Or for the super active, take a bike ride on the Monsal trail and stop off in Bakewell for a pub lunch.
