Fall in Sheffield residents voting by post

More than 70,000 Sheffield residents have registered to vote by post ahead of next week’s local election.

Sheffield Council confirmed there had been 74,511 requests for postal votes before the election day, on Thursday, May 22, from a total of 400,000 registered voters.

The authority said it was a slight reduction in numbers compared to 2012, when there were 78, 404 people registered to vote by post.

Voters will be electing 29 councillors in 28 wards from 164 candidates.
