Richie Smallwood added to the Millers' delight in the 80th minute with a looping 20-yarder to make it 4-0.

The only blot on a near-perfect day for Rotherham was an injury to key midfielder Lee Frecklington who limped off in the 40th minute.

The Millers were unchanged from their 1-1 away draw in the Battle of Bristol City in midweek, even keeping the same bench as centre-half Lloyd Doyley's inflamed knee ruled him out of contention again.

Halford suffered whiplash during the hostilities at Ashton Gate, but had recovered enough to take his place as a defensive midfielder at stadiummk.

Rotherham's delirious fans had to be stopped from invading the pitch as Broadfoot celebrated his first goal for the club.

But there was no stopping the magnificent Millers' safety march.
