The Post Office will be closed from 5.30pm on January 4 until it is relaunched to allow for the refurbishment work to take place.

During this time, customers are advised to use nearby branches at Firth Park Post Office in Sicey Avenue and Tinsley Post Office in Bawtry Road.

Anne Clark, area manager for the Post Office, said: “We are making it easier for customers to get their cash, send and collect their mail and do their banking because we know how important these services are to local residents.

“We are confident that this vibrant new-style Post Office at the heart of the local community will meet customer needs.

“This modernisation is part of a major investment programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office and will secure services for the future.

“The investment marks a commitment to no more branch closures programme.”

A Post Office spokesperson added: “The new-look Wincobank Post Office will be delighted to welcome customers to the newly refurbished branch.

“Local residents and small business customers will be able to access a wide range of Post Office and mails services, including international parcels, special delivery, local collect and home shopping returns, make cash withdrawals, send funds abroad using Moneygram, pay bills, buy holiday money, get insurance, mortgages and savings and top up mobile phones. Car tax renewal and a range of popular on-demand holiday currencies will be added to the wide range of services on offer.”
