Extend contract to save money

services should be contracted out to private companies to boost efficiency and save money, opposition members of Chesterfield Council have urged.

The authority’s Liberal Democrats, who lost power in 2011, are calling on ruling Labour councillors to extend contracts with private companies awarded when they were in charge.

Coun Ray Russell, Liberal Democrat group leader, said: “This is already saving the council £400,000 a year and bringing in new work and jobs.”
