The audience will hear Levison recount his amusing and sometimes poignant tales of life as a soldier in the Parachute Regiment and his subsequent transition into an explorer of international standing.

His tour will also include tales and behind the scenes moments from his journeys walking the length of the Nile and the Himalayas, both of which were documented by Channel 4, alongside his most recent travels walking 1,700 miles along the length of Central America, taking in eight countries from Mexico to Colombia and his bid to cross the treacherous Darien Gap.

He said: "Without wanting to spoil the surprise, I plan to talk about my latest expedition ‘Walking the Americas’ as well as what has inspired me along the way, and how I went from being in the Parachute Regiment to forging a career as an explorer.

"I’ll talk about the challenges and pitfalls; the dangers and the rewards of a career as a professional traveller.

"I’ll also share some stories from ‘behind the scenes’ that don’t make it into the TV series.

"I hope I’ll inspire people to go on their own adventures and make people laugh and challenge their perceptions of places. I’m very fortunate to be able to do this for a living."

Levison Wood comes to the Winding Wheel on Sunday, March 12 at 7.30pm.

Tickets are priced £24.50 and can be booked by calling the Chesterfield Theatres Box Office on 01246 345 222 or online at chesterfieldtheatres.co.uk.
