I am very pleased your wife received such good care and I hope she will always do so.

However, my experience is not so good.

I am in my 80th year, and also have suffered haemorrhagic strokes and have other serious conditions.

In September 2015, in very severe pain, I managed to get an appointment with the GP for a week later.

I was given a prescription for pain relief, (didn’t work), no questions about the problem, and was out of the surgery in two minutes. I returned twice, nothing!

I paid to see a private doctor, who arranged for an MRI in January 2016. The appointment for results of the scan was 21 weeks later. Then I had another test two weeks after. The hospital reported to my GP after another two weeks with details of the problem and pain relief to be offered. After 43 weeks from the onset of pain I was still unable to book an appointment with my GP.

You are not allowed to book in advance, but can only ring on the day, as soon as surgery opens, with dozens trying to get through.

Within 10-15 minutes, all appointments are gone.

I live at the opposite part of Sheffield, perhaps that is the problem, or am I just too old and unworthy?
