AN EXHIBITION has been launched about the personal experiences of troops in Afghanistan – including a South Yorkshire soldier who survived being shot in the back.

Private David Dyer, from Barnsley and a member of C Company Third Battalion The Yorkshire Regiment – formerly the Duke of Wellington’s Regiment – was hit during a tour in 2009/10. He was saved by his body armour.

The Through Soldiers’ Eyes display has been launched at the Duke of Wellington’s Regiment Museum in Halifax.
