In a letter to parents, headteacher Sharon Stone said: “We were shocked and dismayed when the allegations came to light but I would like to pass on reassurance from the police that there was no evidence to suggest the offences related in any way to pupils at our school.

“We take the safety of our pupils seriously and I can assure you we acted quickly to suspend Martin Barnsdall as soon as the police made us aware of the allegations, taking all the appropriate action in consultation with all the relevant authorities.”
