Australian homeware store House has opened in Meadowhall and announced an additional 10 per cent off current offers in their Royal VIP event.

This is the cooking, dining and entertainment specialist's third store in the UK after opening stores at Westgate Oxford and Bracknell's Lexicon.

The news of the store's opening follows an initial announcement last August with House now targeting six stores in the UK by June.

The brand also has plans to open 75 stores across the country within three years and employ 1000 people.

House currently operates from more than 150 stores in Australia.

Chief Executive Steven Lew told Retail Gazette: “I am proud and delighted that we have successfully opened our first three stores on schedule.

“We received a tremendous reaction at store openings. Customers are so excited to share in the experience. I was extremely enthused watching people interacting and shopping in store.

“Our expansion will be very much opportunity-led, and our strategy is to create a sustainable operation that prioritises being best-in-class, over being the biggest.

“Physical stores are not dead. They are only dead if the retailer cannot adapt its model, and landlords and business partners are not willing to work together in their mutual best interests.

"The approach must be collaborative, holistic and realistic.”
