A SHEFFIELD United hopeful who took to crack dealing after he failed to make the grade had his sentence slashed by Appeal Court judges.
Elijah Reid, 21, was locked up for six years at Sheffield Crown Court in May after he admitted supplying cocaine and heroin, and possessing cocaine with intent to supply. The former Blades trainee, of Stafford Road, Norfolk Park, Sheffield, was caught by detectives during the 30-month Operation Mach crackdown on street-dealing. He supplied undercover police officers with drugs on 11 occasions.
Reid is now clean of drugs, full of remorse, and is doing his best to rehabilitate himself, the court heard.
Lord Justice Elias, sitting with Mrs Justice Cox and Mr Justice Lloyd Jones, cut Reid’s sentence from six years to five years, of which he will serve half before qualifying for release.
