FOUR charities have benefited from a share of £6,500 raised when South Yorkshire rotarians held a sportsman’s dinner.

Rockley Rotary Club, Barnsley, organised the event at the town’s Holiday Inn hotel, where former Wolverhampton Wanderers and Manchester City footballer Steve Daley was the after-dinner speaker.

There was also a fundraising auction in which businessman Gareth Parkin, managing director of Internet Marketing 360, paid £200 for a VIP day out to watch a Barnsley FC home match at Oakwell, which he gave to his young nephew.

Organisations benefiting from the event are Second Chance Headway, the Prostate Cancer Charity, Parkinsons UK, and the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
