Event to raise funds to restore Bell's Box clubhouse

Fundraising is underway to restore a clubhouse that has been used for overnight trips by local Scouts & Cubs for more than 65 years.

Bell’s Box, in Derbyshire, contains ten bunks and is thought to be one of the UK’s first ever glamping sites.

It is managed by the ‘Friends of Bell’s Box’ - a sub group of the 79th Sheffield Scout Troop, which is now hosting a fundraising evening to pay for its restoration and refurbishment.

A spokesman for the troop said: “Cubs often spend their first night away from comforts of home at Bell’s Box, learning map-reading skills, hiking and star-gazing in non-light polluted conditions.”
