Event for public to find out about Olympic Legacy Park

The information session at Oasis Academy Don Valley has been organised for people who live or work in Attercliffe, Darnall or the surrounding area.

The school, which opened its doors last October and caters for children from two - 16 years old is the first element of the £50 million Olympic Legacy Park.

Other plans include the city’s second University Technical College, which will cater for 14-19 year-olds and will specialise in human science and computing.

Building work has already started and the college is expected to open in September.

There are also plans for an Advanced Wellbeing Research Centre, where firms will research and take products from concept to market.

A 3,000 seat arena is also due to be built and will become the home of the Sheffield Sharks basketball team.

A new stadium will be become home to the Sheffield Eagles rugby league team.

Former sports minister and Sheffield MP Richard Caborn, a driving force behind the project, will provide a progress report.

“With the Oasis Academy Don Valley already open and work on the UTC underway, the park is really starting to take shape.

“We’re keen to meet local businesses and residents to showcase plans for the next stage of the project and highlight the facilities, green spaces, running and cycling paths and outdoor exercise areas which will be available for the local community to use.”
