Equipment will improve Sheffield’s chance of survival

More life-saving equipment than ever is protecting the people of Sheffield.

Shopping centre Crystal Peaks is the latest public place to receive a defibrillator from the British Heart Foundation, bringing the total stationed across the city to 46.

The devices, used to treat people suffering cardiac arrest, have been paid for by the work of Sheffield’s army of fundraisers. It is hoped they will help improve people’s chances of survival in the event of a heart attack, reducing the number of deaths.

Chris Ward, area manager for the BHF, said: “We are so pleased to award this defibrillator to Crystal Peaks.

“This is a great example of how the funds raised in the Sheffield BHF furniture store can help buy life-saving equipment. Every sofa bought, or chair donated, helps turn the tables on heart disease.”
