Sheffield residents 'disgusted' at bags of litter left in nature reserve for over a week

Empty beer cans, food wrappers and a disposable barbecue were among the large volume of rubbish found on Woodhouse Washlands yesterday, (Sunday, July 19).
Angler, Martin Else discovered the litter strewn over the nature reserve while he was fishing with his partner, Nicole Turner and their young children, aged two and four.

Hide AdTogether the family cleaned up the rubbish that been left for over a week, despite complaints from residents about the mountains of rubbish in the washlands that had been left behind last week by a ‘fellow’ fisherman.
Martin said it was a ‘shame’ to see the mess had not been cleaned up by the culprit.
In a post on Facebook, he commented: “The first thing my 4 year old said was it's disgusting, and you know what, it is.
"As an angler myself we always say it weighs less to take home than it did when you brought it.

Hide Ad"My daughter who's two even carried one of the bags all the way up to the main road.
"It took us all of five minutes to clear your c*ap up.
"You should be ashamed of yourself!”
The family filled two bags of litter with the empty food packets, beer cans and plastic packaging that had been left on the nature reserve.
One person added: "It's becoming a worrying problem.
"We all need to be more proactive and call out this antisocial behaviour whenever we can.”
