This photo taken by Bethany Wells in Heeley shows how the River Sheaf looks today, Saturday, February 29.
She asked: “Why is the river orange? I’ve seen iron ore residues before but this is completely orange.”
When the Porter Brook turned a similar tinge in 2018, the Environment Agency said this was believed to be due to an iron discharge from historical mine workings.
