Hide AdFast chargers, as opposed to rapid chargers, are less expensive to maintain and do not have external cables which are often vandalised, removed and sold for scrap.
Of the cost, the council contributed £56,250, the South Yorkshire Combined Mayoral Authority paid £183,000, and the final £81,240 is from government funding.
The chargers will be installed at:
- Greenlands Park, North Anston
- Clifton Park, Doncaster Road
- Laburnum Parade, Maltby
- Mowbray Gardens Library
- Greasbrough Library
- Kiveton Park Library
- Customer Service Centre, Maltby
- Constable Lane, Dinnington (replacements for broken chargers)
- Advanced Manufacturing Park
Plans for two rapid chargers and one fast charger on Main Street have been put on hold due to traffic regulation orders.
Rotherham Council has also budgeted £20,000 for CCTV cameras at charging stations, and £62,000 for operating and maintenance costs over the next three years.
