LEISURE centres across Rotherham are encouraging members of the public to participate in the national Swimathon charity fundraising event.

The pools at Rotherham Leisure Complex, Aston-cum-Aughton, Maltby and Wath leisure centres are among 645 around the country where people can make a splash over the weekend of April 27 to 29 in aid of Sport Relief and Marie Curie Cancer Care.

The Swimathon Weekend is open to all ages and abilities and there are different lengths people can choose to take part in. Spectators are also invited to come along and cheer entrants on.

Chris Wright, Rotherham Leisure Complex general manager, said: “The Swimathon Weekend 2012 is the perfect event to train for, and participate in, with your friends and family.”
