Regular ‘gin pairing’ evenings will feature a menu of four mouth-watering courses, each served with a specially chosen gin.

January’s very popular event tempted the taste buds with combinations including pulled lamb samosa served with oriental spiced Opihr gin and honey-glazed duck breast accompanied by locally distilled Sheffield Gin.

Future menus will use other gins from the Gin Wagon’s extensive selection, including Sheffield-based Sir Robin of Locksley and Masons Yorkshire gins.

The next gin pairing night will be on Friday March 16.

At each event, Gin Wagon owner Fran Arnold will be on hand to give a brief talk about the gins being served. The Gin Wagon itself, a vintage horsebox now transformed into a unique mobile bar, will also be open to serve drinks outside the bistro.

Fran said: “I’m really happy to be adding these bistro nights to our regular pop up events in Totley and other events around Sheffield. Gin is so popular in Sheffield, and this is a great way for people to try out a few different gins with some delicious food.”

S17 Deli has been running very popular bistro nights from its base on Bradway Road since 2009.

Owner Andy Forder said: “The Gin Wagon presented us with a fantastic opportunity to offer a new approach to our bistro menu and we’re excited to be working with them on this addition to our regular bistro nights.”

From Friday March 2, S17 and the Gin Wagon will also present ‘gin and tapas’ nights. No booking will be needed for these nights, which will feature the Gin Wagon at S17 on occasional Fridays.

Customers will be able to enjoy their drinks seated inside or outside the bistro, and if they’re in need of a bite to eat with their G&T, Andy and his team will have a selection of tasty tapas and bar snacks on the menu.

Fran added: “This is another brilliant way that people can enjoy what the Gin Wagon has to offer. It’s in a great location in Bradway for people to meet for Friday evening drinks and snacks.”

S17 bookings can be made on 0114 235 3285 and the bistro night menus and dates are available on their website or via ginwagon.com.
