This is the aftermath of a crash in Sheffield city centre when a car's engine shot from the vehicle and landed on a pavement after it ploughed into a lamppost.

Shocked passers-by stopped to help when the black Seat Altea lost control and crashed on Eyre Street, close to the Jury's Inn Hotel, at around 2.35am on Sunday.

POLICE: Gunman still at large after shooting in Sheffield park
A South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said: "Officers were called to Eyre Street following reports that a black Seat Altea had collided with a lamppost.

"No one is thought to have been seriously injured.

"A 31-year-old man who was a passenger in the car was treated for minor injuries."
