Emmie, born on October 8, 1911, Emmie spent most of her life living in Fulwood where her and Eric raised their two sons, Andrew and Robert. Emmie regularly attended matches at Hillsborough, supporting her husband and his team through the late-1940s and 50s.

During the 1960s, she proudly watched as Eric developed the stadium he loved, including the construction of the cantilevered North Stand in 1961, as well as his success in bringing World Cup football to Hillsborough in 1966. Emmie also attended the club’s centenary celebrations in 1967.

Andrew Robert had little chance of being anything other than devoted Owls fans; an addiction they have duly passed on to Emmie’s grandchildren, all of whom will be attending the Owls’ play-off game against Brighton and Hove Albion tomorrow evening (Friday, May 13) to celebrate her life.

Emmie’s funeral will be held at Hutcliffe Wood Crematorium tomorrow (May 13) at 10.30am. The family have asked that rather than send or bring flowers, those who would like to pay their respects can make a donation to The Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
