Emergency services helped collapsed man in Sheffield street
Firefighters and paramedics helped an elderly man who collapsed in a Sheffield street last night.
The man fell to the ground on Upper Hanover Street, close to the junction with West Street, at around 10pm.
A concerned motorist stopped her car to help the man and staff at nearby Sainsbury's dialled 999 to raise the alarm.
Firefighters were first on the scene and began helping the man until paramedics arrived and took him to hospital
An onlooker said: "The man was walking down the street when he collapsed and fell to the ground.
"A woman driving had to get out the car and make sure he was ok.
"The man was quite old, probably in his 80s. Thankfully, the fire service got here about 10 minutes after we called them and he's been taken to hospital."
