Emergency services deployed to crash scene on busy Sheffield road

Motorists and bus passengers have been warned of delays on a busy Sheffield road following a single-vehicle collision on Wednesday evening.

South Yorkshire Police Operations Support tweeted that the Roads Policing Group are attending to reports of a single vehicle on its roof on the Sheffield Parkway heading into city.

The incident has caused a significant congestion near the A57/Prince of Wales Road exit.

Ambulance and fire service are also in attendance.

The tweet said: “Expect delays and avoid the area where possible. Updates will follow.”

Eyewitnesses said the traffic has been built up in the area.

Following the incident, First Bus South Yorkshire said its X5 and X74 services remain on normal route with minor delays at this time as the Sheffield Parkway inbound lanes near the Prince of Wales roundabout were closed.

Later at 7.20pm, the police released pictures of the crash scene where a car landed on its roof and only minor injuries were reported.
