Emergency services attend car fire on major Sheffield road

Police are said to be investigating a car fire which started on a major Sheffield road.

One fire crew from Parkway station was called to a bus stop on Prince of Wales Road with the junction of Harborough Avenue, Manor, at around 11.45pm to reports a Kia Cerato had been set alight.

A South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue spokesman said: "The air bag exploded not long after we arrived. If anyone was standing near the air bag it really could've hurt someone. There was loads of plastic showered all over the road."

The crew left the scene around 12.30am.

Police were also in attendance and are said to be investigating a suspected arson attack. Anyone with information call 101.

A crew from Parkway station also attended land off Raynald Road to deal with a grass fire.

The crew was called out to the Manor Fields area around 7.30pm on Saturday night. The incident is thought to be deliberate.

Crews from Parkway and Elm Lane were called out to a fire on the Stovin estate in Darnall at around 9.40pm on Saturday night.

A South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue spokesman said a halogen light on a housing block had caught fire - the incident was not thought to be deliberate.
