The attack left the woman with injuries to her hand and her head.

South Yorkshire Police told The Star: “On Monday July 6, a dog handler and response officers responded to reports of a dog attacking a woman in a secure dog exercising field off Fiddle Neck Lane in Aston.

“It is understood that a Dobermann became aggressive towards a woman exercising the dog and caused injuries to her head and arms.

“A medically trained police officer provided initial first aid to the victim until the ambulance arrived and transported her to hospital.”

The dog was seized and remains in police kennels while police continue their enquiries.

As a breed, Dobermanns are not considered dangerous by the UK’s dangerous dog laws.
