Large glass front of Sheffield city kebab house shatters after collapse of ceiling at Sainsbury’s next door
Yesterday afternoon (Monday) four police cars, three fire engines and two ambulances were scrambled to the High Street Sainsbury’s store
The large window front of a prominent kebab takeaway on Sheffield’s High Street has shattered following the collapse of a ceiling at a Sainsbury’s Local next door.
Photos show glass shards bordering the edges of the German Doner Kebab restaurant’s facade with safety barriers placed on the footpath outside.

It is understood the glass has fractured after the roof of the adjacent supermarket fell on a customer’s head, sparking a large emergency response, yesterday (Monday).
Police have since said they were called out to German Doner Kebab on Monday evening however no crime was recorded.

Yesterday afternoon four police cars, three fire engines and two ambulances were scrambled to the High Street Sainsbury’s store when it was reported that part of the ceiling collapsed.

A handwritten sign has been placed on the door of Sainsbury’s, reading “We are closed until further notice.”
German Doner Kebab have been contacted for comment.
The impacted man did not suffer any serious injuries.
Sainsbury’s was cordoned off for around an hour and a half and the incident resulted in disruptions to all of the Supertram routes, which were not able to serve any stop between Shalesmoor and Sheffield Railway Station.
