Electricity pylon knocked down as man hurt in major car crash near South Yorkshire motorway

A man was taken to hospital last night today as his car crashed into a tree and knocked down an electricity pylon.

The motorist was cut out of his five door car by South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service after the collision, which happened on Cumwell Lane, near junction one of the M18, at Bramley, Rotherham.

Fire crews who attended the scene are unsure what had happened to lead to the crash.

But when they arrived they found the front of the car had been damaged by the tree and wires from the power cables were down.

It mean the crews had to work to aoid the wires as they freed the man from the car, and the power had to be isoated.

The drivers was put into an ambulance at the scene. Firecrews were on the scene for around an hour from 2am
