AN ELECTION is to be held for a new member of Chesterfield Council.

The election has been called for the St Helen’s ward in Chesterfield following the death of Coun Trevor Reynolds, who previously held the seat.

Nomination papers are available from the elections office at the Town Hall, Rose Hill, Chesterfield, with all applications needing to be submitted before noon tomorrow.

If the election is contested, a poll will take place on Thursday, July 5.

The closing date to register to vote for the election or to apply for a postal vote is Wednesday, June 20.

Coun Reynolds died last month after losing his battle with cancer, which was diagnosed the year before.
