YOUNGSTERS at a Doncaster primary school are looking to the future with a time capsule for later generations.
Pupils at Hatfield Manor Church of England Junior School are collecting items to put inside the capsule.
It will be buried at a nearby building site being developed by Jephson Housing Association.
Rachael Rothery, housing administration officer at Jephson North and Sam Lysiak, project manager at development firm Southdale, which is also working on the development near The Crescent, Dunscroft, visited the school, on Cuckoo Lane, to present pupils with the capsule for them to fill.
Rachael said: “It is great to get local schoolchildren involved in what we do with a fun project like this, while at the same time teaching them valuable lessons about safety around building sites.
“The pupils will spend the next few weeks deciding what sort of things they want to put in the time capsule to sum up what’s been happening in 2011, before it is buried at the new development in time for the homes being completed in July.”
