TWO aspiring young writers have won praise from a national charity.

Secondary school pupils Alex Davenport and Sam Davis, both from Sheffield, entered a contest organised by Animal Aid, asking teenagers across the UK to express views on the way animals are used in society through the medium of poetry.

Alex and Sam, who both attend Birkdale School in Broomhill, were commended.

Ben Martin, competition organiser for Animal Aid, said: “They richly deserve their awards.”
