THIS shimmering seven-storey student block could soon bring a warm golden glow to Sheffield city centre.
The design for the proposed building - 152-bed student scheme on land at Hanover Way, close to the bottom of The Moor - has been drawn up by architectural agency Coda Studios.
One of its most striking features will be its exterior fins, created from an alloy of copper and aluminium that quickly weathers to create a warm golden surface.
“We believe this could be one of the city’s most iconic buildings in years to come,” said Coda managing director David Cross.
“As well as creating much needed living space and encouraging a return to city centre living, the design - which reflects the look of the nearby Sheffield University Information Commons building - would become a landmark on the Hanover Way ring road as both motorists and pedestrians approach the centre of Sheffield.”
