Staff at Sheffield Hallam University are gearing up for their busiest day of the year tomorrow – as students hunt for places through the clearing process.

Last year the university’s hotline received almost 17,000 calls on A-level results day and this year is expected to be just as intense.

Places are expected to be available on a range of courses, including sport, psychology and business.

Up-to-date lists of courses with places available will be published on the Sheffield Hallam website – – tomorrow morning.

Students are asked to check the site before calling 0300 5550567 to discuss their options. The hotline will run from 7am until 7pm.

Applicants will be invited to visit the university to meet staff and students at a clearing open day next Tuesday. The website includes a checklist and details of drop-in services.
