Staff to retire after decades of long service in schools

Nine staff who have clocked up nearly 300 years’ service between them in Sheffield schools are retiring – and will receive formal thanks from Sheffield Council.

Longest-serving is Beryl Harlow, assistant head of Forge Valley School, who has taught in the city for 41 years.

Mick Wing, business manager at Forge Valley in Stannington, is retiring after 38 years.

Others being honoured are Cath James, headteacher at Meadowhead; Christopher Creswell, teacher at Forge Valley; Lynne Hodgkinson, teacher at Holt House Infants, Millhouses; Janet Hamilton, headteacher at Reignhead Primary, Beighton; Faizani Khan, teacher at Holt House Infants; Anna James, another teacher at Holt House Infants; and Eileen Vernon, teacher at Forge Valley.
