Students from The University of Sheffield Students’ Union will travel to London next week to protest against the rising cost of education.

Students’ Union officers will launch their year-long No Barriers to Education campaign against the restrictions on access to higher education.

Education Officer Minesh Parekh said: “With maintenance grants being scrapped and international students’ rights being weakened, we want to make clear how important access to education is.

“Be it an international student who comes to the UK to train to be a top class doctor or a student who requires maintenance grants to learn engineering skills, education helps our whole society.”

The protest is part of a national campaign.
