YOUNGSTERS from Doncaster’s Balby Carr School know all about good food.
They have just picked up awards for work done at the Weston Road school to promote both pupils’ knowledge of what they eat and the quality of what comes out of the school kitchens.
Several youngsters picked up awards for their work on food-related projects at the school under the Food For Life Partnership Awards and the school received the partnership’s silver award.
The awards recognise schools that are reconnecting young people with the food they eat. Schools have to show pupils know about food and where it comes from and serve locally sourced food.
Assistant headteacher Jane Shaw said: “We are very proud of our students at Balby, they have become fully involved in all the Food for Life Initiatives with enthusiasm. We firmly believe that healthy students can only enhance learning and their success in life.”
