Sheffield’s new University Technical College is to be officially opened by the Duke of Gloucester.

He will unveil a plaque on Wednesday, October 16, and then enjoy a tour of the new centre, meeting students, staff and employers backing the project.

The UTC is the first of its kind in Yorkshire and opened its doors to 240 students earlier this month.

Costing £10 million, the college will eventually teach 600 teenagers aged 14 to 19, taking in students from throughout the region.

Plans are now being developed for a second UTC.
