A children’s charity has released a song to help educate youngsters on issues they may face.

Safe at Last, which supports youngsters in South Yorkshire at risk through running away, teamed up with Rotherham rapper Mya Jay to produce an educational song and accompanying music video.

The song, also entitled Safe at Last, is based on the stories of three young people enduring turbulent times, and raises issues such as bullying, abuse, self-harming and running away from home.

The music video will be used as part of the Education and Prevention Programme deployed across schools in South Yorkshire.

Tracy Haycox, director of children and young people’s services at the charity, said: “This project has been such an exciting experience and I’m looking forward to seeing the video being used as an educational tool to support vulnerable young people.”
