Reunion marks 60th anniversary of school closure

Have your say

Ex-pupils from a former Sheffield school are holding a reunion – 50 years after the school closed its doors.

The event for old boys and girls from Marlcliffe Intermediate School at Hillsborough is to be held at Tapton Masonic Hall on Shore Lane, Broomhill.

This year also marks 90 years since the school first opened in 1924.

The event will run from 12noon until 4pm and it is hoped the attendance will top last year’s when 56 people attended.

Over the years more than 600 Old Marlcliffians have attended reunion events.

At this year’s event people will be asked to describe something they have taken from their time at Marlcliffe and which has continued throughout their lives – such as a sport, community involvement or an activity.
